STEP 1. I will be working with Outlook of Life data set. I have decided that I am particularly interested in women’s outlook.
STEP 2. My specific topics of interest are:
- gender equality
- leadership positions in government go to women,
- women to become members of the clergy
- How concerned are you personally about women’s rights
- Discrimination against women is no longer a problem in the U.S
STEP 3. I have prepared my own codebook (I copy screen and paste into a new document) from the larger codebook that includes the questions/items/variables that will help support my topic.)
Category 1:’W1_J1_D’ Require that an equal number of the top leadership positions in government go to women”
“Category 2: ‘W1_M4’
Churches or places of worship should allow more women to become members of the clergy.”
“Category 3: ‘W2_QF9’ How concerned are you personally about women’s rights?”
“Category 4: ‘W2_QH1’ Discrimination against women is no longer a problem in the U.S”
STEP 4
While these questions by show the level of awareness of womens issue I am particularly interested to see if there is a connection between them and if the data between them is related.
For example: if the women’s leadership positions is problem of the society expectation or it is internal personal problem.
STEP 5
I included variables that will show this connection (if any). For example Category 3 and Category 4 question.
STEP 6
They are multiple stidies to support the thesis that:
Self-esteem, family socioeconomic support or prevent leader advancement . Using a nationally representative sample from the U.S. with 1747 working individuals across a time span of 10 years, we found that 1) self-esteem had a significant and positive influence on leadership role occupancy for both males and females and on leadership advancement in terms of supervisory scope over time for females; and 2) family socioeconomic status exerted an adverse effect on female leadership advancement.

STEP 7
Based on your literature review, I believe that social and internal factory together shape the expectations and prospects for women.
